What is Awana?
Awana Club is a children’s discipleship program at Hambden Congregational Church. AWANA stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” (2 Timothy 2:15). It is an international organization whose goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to train them to serve Him. The Awana Ministry here at HCC seeks to provide an atmosphere in which children can enjoy learning that God is real, that He loves them, and that He has expressed that love through Jesus Christ. They will also learn how to apply the truth of the Bible in their everyday lives. Awana uses the Bible to teach the children to honor God and their fellow human beings.
